INDEPENDENCE DAY

JULY 4, 2008

The Arts Council of Denham Springs hosted "Honor America Day" at Train Station Park in the Antique Village.  Hundreds of patriotic folks showed up for this big event.  Special guest for the event was Major General R. G. Richard, USMC (Ret.) who is the CEO of the Tiger Athletic Foundation.  Mayor Jimmy Durbin welcomed everyone to the event and turned the microphone over to Tim Toler, who is the director of the Livingston Parish Concert Band.  Other special guests included Michael McNaughton, who served our country in Afghanistan and many other military personnel, active and retired.  The evening was full of patriotic music, food, car show, face painting, fire department displays and an Antique Car Show. The dancers from Odyssey School of Dance performed for the crowd. There was even a bicycle, scooter and wagon parade presented by local children to show their patriotic spirit.
